More and more people tend to have cosmetology surgery to change their appearance. This essay will examine some of the possible reasons for this trend and evaluate whether it is a positive or negative development.
At the outset, there are numerous reasons why some people are choosing to change the way they look. The most conspicuous one stems from the fact that cosmetic surgery can ameliorate self-esteem and confidence. It is an irrefutable fact that it can help people that had accident which caused damages to their body the ability to regain their self-consciousness back. For example, burn victims can have surgery to remove their burned skin tissues and replace with new ones. Another possible reason is that young people tend to copy their idols’ behaviors. It is a known fact that many famous actors and actresses in the world have gone through different kinds of cosmetic surgeries in order to keep up their popularity level and maintain their superiority on social medial platforms. This accidentally makes their young fans unsatisfied with their looks and thus proceed with surgery.
Nevertheless, I tend to believe that cosmetic surgery can be a negative development. Firstly, there are serious health risks linked with cosmetic surgery. For example, it can permanently damage the individual’s muscles and skin since cosmetic surgeries have a high risk of infection, especially if the area’s hygiene is poor. In a worser scenario, it can lead to fatal like the case of famous singer Micheal Jackson. In addition, people with plastic surgery might face criticism from people around. It can be testified after have the operation done on them. They either lose a few friends or become the talk of the town regardless of whether the outcome is good or bad because the likelihood of being criticized is equal.
To conclude, I once reiterate my position that cosmetic surgery can be beneficial for some groups of people, however, it is ultimately a negative development because of its unexpected consequences brought to people.
